Rebecca Smith kindly wrote me back and invited questions so I will send her an email this week. I'm especially interested to know how being in Jane Austen's house has affected her own writing and her feeling about herself as a writer. And if she's adopted any of Jane's practices as a writer.
Check out her blog as well - there's a link at the end of the post.
Here's the email:
Dear Christine,
Thank you for your nice email sent to the Museum. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. Your project sounds lovely and really interesting. Do write back and tell me how you are getting on and ask me any questions you would like to. I am the writer in residence at the Museum - the house where Jane actually lived. You might like to get in touch (if you haven't already) with the people at Chawton House Library too. I'm sure you know this, but that is the big house that Jane's brother Edward inherited - the contents of its library will be of great interest to you and your project.
Wishing you a Happy New Year and very good luck with your project,
Rebecca Smith
